How to Request Duplications of NWP Images
The images available through this site are offered in one of two versions: optimized original scans or restored images, either of which can be provided to you in hard copy or digital format.
Optimized original scans are copies of historic documents or materials with all of the imperfections that may have existed on the original version. They are, however, adjusted in Adobe Photoshop for exposure. In contrast, restored images are copies of historic documents or materials that have been modified by the staff to remove dust, scratches, cracks, or tears, make density and color corrections to enhance aged images as well as precise burning and dodging for the proper exposure. The service time per scan is dependent on the quality of the original image and the raw scan. Digital images can be printed in-house depending on the staff time and number of images in the order.
Reproductions of the images posted on this site can be obtained from the NWP in accordance with the procedures and restrictions set forth below. Any use by you of such reproductions shall be governed by the Terms Governing the Reproduction and Use of Images (click to download PDF). It is strongly recommended that you read these terms before ordering your reproductions.
Reproduction of Images
To request an image, you must complete and submit the Image Duplication and Permission Request Form (click to download PDF) along with any duplication or usage fees. Please be sure to include the relevant information for each image, as provided in the example below, so the Collection staff will be able to fill the order quickly and efficiently:

Call Number: P1345
Media Type: 1 photographic print
Order Number: Use the date as your order number.
(The number should be listed as MMDDYY.)

Turn-Around Time for Image Duplication Requests
Please keep in mind that the staff time for duplication is very limited. We process orders as quickly as possible. Image duplication requests may take 30 days or more to fill. Requests from on-site researchers take precedence; research requests received through the mail, by phone or electronically will be handled as time and staffing allow.
Rush orders for up to five images for which no restoration is required may be available. Please contact , Collections Manager, for more information.
Payment and Delivery
Duplication fees are non-refundable unless otherwise agreed by the NWP (see B.2 of Terms Governing the Reproduction and Use of Images PDF document downloadable above or in the left sidebar). You agree to pay all costs incurred in making requested copies according to the established Image Duplication and Permission Fee Schedule (PDF document downloadable above or in the left sidebar), including expenses in preparing negatives, which will be retained by the NWP.
Payment is requested in advance. Please include your payment with your Image Duplication and Permission Request Form. Make checks payable to: National Woman's Party. Include invoice number on the check.
Rush service orders for image duplication require an additional charge of 50% to 200% of the base price of the order depending on service and time. Orders for some material cannot be rushed. The NWP does not offer same day service.
Certain fees can be waived or reduced depending upon the nature of your proposed use of an image copy. (The NWP will advise you of any such waiver or fee reduction and refund any such fees to you accordingly.)
Restrictions on Your Use of any Copy of an Image
Your use of any copy of an image that the NWP has provided to you is subject to the restrictions set forth in the Terms Governing the Reproduction and Use of Images. Please review carefully these terms to ensure proper use of your image copy.
