Publications

Black Women in America: Contributors to our Heritage commemorates twenty-three African-American women whose lives and work have expanded the possibilities for all women’s lives in the United States. These are women who struggled against the restrictions imposed on them in their time because of sex, race and class boundaries. In highlighting these women’s accomplishments, the Sewall-Belmont House & Museum recognizes the range of strategies women have employed in their political struggles and presents us with an understanding of the broad range of women’s history on politics.
